Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting accounts payable, accounts reconciliations, accounting entries, analyzing financial data, preparing journal entries, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret financial information to provide valuable insights. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic environment. The Accounting Analyst should establish and maintains the Bank's fiscal record-keeping system by utilizing generally accepted accounting principles; adheres to tax laws and regulatory compliance; ensures department activities run smoothly and efficiently. Provides a high level of customer relations and service; and ensures compliance with Bank policies and procedures and attaining established Bank and department goals.
Duties
Performs the following accounting functions, including but not limited to: • Analyze financial data and create detailed reports for management • Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes • Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate records • Support budgeting and forecasting activities • Monitor and analyze financial transactions and trends • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial data • Assist with internal and external audits • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures
General Responsibilities:
1. Registers on IBS accounting entries ensuring completeness and accuracy of all recording. 2. Assist external auditors on requested reports such as bank reconciliations, journal entries register, among other requests. 3. Prepares worksheets and reports; reconciles incoming and outgoing wire transfers; reconciles and post RDC transactions and checks processed; follows up on prepared data to ensure accuracy and a proper paper trail for end of-month process.
4. Performs monthly review to ensure transaction balance to the general ledger; clears out non-posted items daily; ensures accuracy and proper documentation of transactions; follows up on out-of-balance items to resolve problems as necessary.
5. Assists the Senior Accountant in assuring audit compliance and procedure quality control are maintained for the department and Bank; reviews recommend, and initiates corrective actions; and ensures the department complies with established Bank policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
6. Gathers and calculates data and prepares a variety of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management; ensures reports are accurate, complete, and prepared on schedule.
7. Update Bank Vendors' files and monitor to ascertain files are updated, complete, and accurate.
8. Assists other department offices in resolving accounting inquiries and providing staff support.
9. Assists the Senior Accountant in ensuring accurate completion of related financial reports initiated by the Bank's data processor along with internal reports.
10. Tests and implements policies and procedures (manual and computerized) about the maintenance of accurate accounting records and report preparation.
11. Assists the Senior Accountant in gathering and calculating financial information for the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports to the federal and state government; and ensures reporting is made in compliance with tax laws and regulations.
12. Review and process journal entries with proper approval.
13. In absence of the Senior Accountant performs payroll processing functions to ensure time records are maintained; ensures pay is accurately calculated and proper deductions are made.
14. Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry status and trends. 15. Respond to inquiries or refer inquiries to the appropriate department or person and exhibits the necessary follow-through with customers and/or staff involved.
16. Applies superior decision-making techniques about inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures,
17. Assumes responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for Senior Management, audits and other personnel.
18. Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of the Senior Accountant or in overload situations.
