SUMMARY:
Provide services to the children and youth eligible for English Learners services. Demonstrate a keen awareness and sensitivity to the issues facing young people and their families and understand the implications for the education of students with academic, social and/or emotional challenges. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the competencies of the District 113 Portrait of an Educator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise classroom, students, and interns on an as-needed basis.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education; 400 hours of field experience supervised by a field instructor holding a master's or higher degree in social work.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Type 73/Professional Educator License with Social Work endorsement. LSW or LCSW preferred. License registered with Lake County ROE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
The District 113 Social worker's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide individual and small group counseling support, crisis intervention, and consultation to students and families Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral health. Assist administrators and staff to understand the familial, cultural, and community components of students' responses to instruction, learning, and academic success Assess student learning needs in collaboration with teachers to develop effective plans that support academic growth Educate teachers and parents about effective strategies to manage behavior in school and at home. Engage in activities to prevent and manage crises and address issues related to the abuse of drugs and other substances. Participate in a variety of meetings: Individual Education Program meetings, 504 review meetings, attendance meetings, domain meetings, parent/student conferences, etc. Conduct Social Developmental Histories as an integral part of determining student eligibility for special education services. Demonstrate the characteristics of an effective District 113 educator Support Board policies and district procedures REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Possess effective oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English Possess mathematical and analytical skills appropriate for the position. Work with students and adults in a positive manner Understand various formal and informal assessment and evaluation strategies to support the development of all students. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to evaluate and modify interventions when necessary. Understand the legal and ethical principles of confidentiality as they relate to the practice of social work. Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions Common sense, problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with day-to-day instruction and supervisory situations Build and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student and families and respect other sensitive District information Set goals and establish methods for achieving these goals Work effectively with a diverse school and community population PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
