Description POSITION SUMMARY: Position includes but is not limited to the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive compactor trucks and roll off trucks for collection of municipal household waste and inert waste and will separate inert waste. May also be required to clean disposal sites.Will be required to perform routine general maintenance of assigned truck, will assist with repair of equipment.Will attend applicable training courses.Will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Director.Primarily responsible for driving of compactor trucks (automatic and manual transmission) with air brakes for the daily and weekly collection of municipal household waste and inert waste at designed sites.Responsible for transportation of municipal household waste to designated site(s) for proper disposal.Responsible to wear proper clothing such as, boots, and attire for landfill truck driver position. Responsible to keep communication with supervisor on a regular basis to inform of malfunctions or pending problems with related equipment and trucks. Responsible of assisting with general cleanup and maintenance of Three Affiliated Tribes landfill and storage building. Responsible to submit to Three Affiliated Tribes' Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes pre-employment drug screening, reasonable suspicion testing and random testing. Responsible to immediately notify supervisor if CDL has been revoked, suspended and/or canceled. And other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: The requirement for managing others does not exist. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge
Must have knowledge with EPA federal rules, regulations, and codes that pertain to US EPA Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) complaint landfills. Knowledge of work methods and procedures used in maintenance and repair of trucks and related equipment.
Skills
Must possess some mechanical skills for routine repair and maintenance.
Abilities
Ability to operate trucks both (automatic and manual transmission) with air brakes. Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, and traffic laws. Ability to work well with co-workers, employees, and officials of Three Affiliated Tribes along with other state and federal agencies, and general public. Ability to be self-motivated and obtain a North Dakota Landfill Operator's Certification. Ability to adequately perform duties and responsibilities with minimum supervision. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION: Preferred High school diploma or related equivalency. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Have an excellent driving record, must be insurable. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work will be performed in variable weather conditions, ranging from excellent to poor. Employee must be adequately prepared at all times for inclement weather conditions and to exercise proper judgment. Must be in physical condition, must be able to lift heavy objects weighing in excess of 50lbs, and will operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
