Job Summary: We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in the Chemistry Special Testing Lab at the Royal Oak Campus on a full-time midnight shift. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized tests and procedures in areas such as Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Immunohematology, and Microbiology. You will also be involved in instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and the development of new test procedures.
Key Responsibilities: Independently perform routine and complex laboratory procedures maintaining appropriate technical and organizational skills within established turn-around times. Evaluate instrument performance, correlate results, and identify causes of unexpected test results. Standardize, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments. Assist in the development of new test procedures and methodologies and participate in clinical laboratory science instruction and training. Participate in quality assurance and regulatory activities, provide guidance to other laboratory personnel, and communicate with healthcare workers concerning lab results and procedures. Perform other assigned duties and act as a Team Leader in the supervisor's absence. Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with required coursework in biology and chemistry. Clinical internship or equivalent experience as required by certification agencies. Certification by ASCP or other acceptable certifying agency. Working Conditions: Physical Effort: Requires considerable walking and standing. Occasional light lifting may be necessary.
Work Environment: Works with hazardous reagents and infectious materials in a clinical laboratory setting.
