As part of our expansion, we are seeking a skilled Compliance Analyst to support our Know Your Customer (KYC) and account opening processes.
Job Overview:
The Compliance Analyst at JIC Bank will play a crucial role in ensuring that the bank adheres to all regulatory requirements related to KYC and account openings for U.S. SMEs and high-net-worth individuals. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough due diligence, monitoring account opening procedures, and ensuring that all client information is accurate and compliant with applicable regulations. This role requires prior experience in banking, with a preference for those who have worked in an International Financial Entity (IFE).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) checks on new account applicants, ensuring that U.S. SMEs and high-net-worth individuals meet regulatory standards for identification and verification.
- Review account opening documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with all local and international regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) requirements.
- Perform ongoing monitoring of accounts, ensuring continued compliance with KYC regulations and escalating any potential risks or red flags to senior compliance staff.
- Assist in the identification of suspicious activities and support the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of customer information and account verification processes, ensuring audit trails are accurate and complete.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth and compliant account opening process, providing guidance and support to client-facing teams when necessary.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, industry trends, and best practices related to KYC, AML, and CTF compliance.
- Work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and other members of the compliance team to develop and refine JIC Bank's compliance policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular training and professional development to stay informed on compliance standards and regulatory expectations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in compliance at a bank, with a focus on KYC and account opening processes within the banking sector.
- Experience in an IFE is preferred.
- Must be living in Puerto Rico.
- Strong understanding of KYC regulations, particularly as they apply to opening accounts for U.S. SMEs and high-net-worth individuals.
- Ability to perform detailed due diligence and risk assessments with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Proficiency with compliance-related software and tools.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, law, or a related field (relevant certifications such as CAMS are a plus).
