Job Description
Confederation Lounge Server (Casual)
As a Server with Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, you will be an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our dining experience. Your warm, personal attention and knowledge of our outstanding Food & Beverage offerings makes guests of our restaurants and lounges feel unique and valued.
What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Assistant Outlets Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service and assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way, follow departmental policies, procedures and carry out other duties as assigned.
Perform opening, cleaning and closing duties and service standards and project a pleasant and positive professional image to guests at all times.
Sell and up-sell menu and beverage items in a positive, professional manner.
Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods & adhere to the hotel's food handling and safety policies while serving guests.
Report any irregularities or comments from guests to supervisors and leadership.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Aspect of the Position (include but are not limited to):
Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
1 year a-la-carte serving experience required in the last 5 years.
Pro Serve certification required.
Previous point of sale system experience an asset.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
Highly responsible & reliable.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision.
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
Candidates must be legal to serve alcohol in Alberta (18 years of age) and must possess ProServe certification.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.
