They are currently seeking a talented and experienced Financial Controller to manage their financial operations with precision and insight.
This position is based out of the Boston HQ but will consider both hybrid and remote candidates.
Position Overview: The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all financial activities within the agency. This position is essential for ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget management, and compliance, while also providing strategic financial guidance to support the agency's creative and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Analyze financial performance, providing actionable insights to guide business decisions and enhance profitability. Ensure adherence to accounting principles and regulatory requirements. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop accurate forecasts and financial plans. Monitor budget performance and provide reports on financial variances, recommending corrective actions as needed. Internal Controls and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard the agency's assets and ensure financial integrity. Oversee compliance with industry regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies. Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure timely completion. Cash Flow and Treasury Management: Manage cash flow, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maintaining adequate liquidity for operational needs. Oversee banking relationships and optimize cash management processes. Financial Systems and Process Improvement: Supervise the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Identify opportunities for process improvements and streamline financial operations to support agency growth. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement. Provide training and support to finance staff, ensuring effective performance and development. Strategic Support: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategic initiatives and business plans. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support agency strategies and client engagements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred. Big4 or 2nd Tier public accounting experience highly desired 7+ years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3+ years in leadership role. Experience in the marketing and advertising industry is a plus. Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance requirements. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
