About the Role The Company is seeking a General Counsel with a focus on public company securities law and investment management. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel on a range of matters, including the 1934 Act and 1940 Act, and ensuring compliance with NASDAQ filings. This role also involves overseeing corporate transactions, governance activities, and utilizing knowledge of the commercial real estate industry for legal matters. The General Counsel will be expected to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, implement and oversee auditing procedures, and manage the claim administration process. Additionally, the role includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, as well as maintaining accurate documentation related to all legal activities.
Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company must have a minimum of 10 years' of experience as in-house counsel in a public company setting or as an attorney in private practice with a focus on securities law and investment management. The role requires exceptional knowledge and experience in commercial contracts and auditing, strong communication and documentation skills, and a practical understanding of securities law. The ideal candidate should be able to work autonomously, make high-level decisions, and have a proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. A high level of integrity, professional accountability, and excellent problem-solving skills are also essential for this position.
