About the Role:
SOLARCYCLE is looking for a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Research Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Lab Manager to ensure safe and efficient operations in our high-temperature glass melting and R&D environment. Your work will involve batching and melting glass, conducting property measurements, and organizing and sharing data with the glass R&D team. This is a hands-on role that is critical to our ongoing research and development efforts.
Key Responsibilities: Ensure Safety in High-Temperature Environments: Maintain a strong focus on safety while conducting experiments in a high-temperature glass melting and R&D environment. Follow and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Glass Batching and Melting: Prepare glass batches according to specified formulations. Operate and monitor glass melting processes, ensuring accuracy and consistency in material preparation. Conduct Property Measurements: Perform glass property measurements using various tools and equipment, including TGA-DSC, dilatometer, and spindle viscometer. Ensure data accuracy and reliability in all measurements. Data Organization and Sharing: Organize and document experimental data in a clear and systematic manner. Share data and insights with the glass R&D team to support ongoing research and development projects. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent education. Strong focus on safety and comfortable working in high-temperature environments. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate technical information clearly. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years' experience in high-temperature materials processing. Proficiency in operating materials testing equipment. Experience working in R&D or industrial environments focused on materials. Strong foundational understanding of materials science and processing techniques. Ability to work safely in high-temperature conditions using appropriate PPE. Capable of lifting and handling materials weighing 30+ lbs.
