Position: Full-time, Exempt
The Graphic Designer is a functional role within the TIXBY Digital Marketing team. Under general supervision, designs and/or coordinates the development and design of a wide range of electronic and/or printed graphic materials, involving a variety of integrated steps and processes, and requiring extensive knowledge of specialized, multi-faceted design concepts and media. Creates complex, original graphic design and comprehensive layout concepts, and oversees and coordinates production of materials. May lead and guide the work of graphic designers and/or outside service vendors.
This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Essential Functions (including but not limited to):
Conceptualizes, plans, designs, and produces a wide range of specialized graphic and/or illustrative material, to include multimedia concepts, as appropriate.
Works with Event Programming & Marketing team to ascertain needs and to develop graphic directions, concepts, and specifications for assigned projects.
Plans production schedules for the various steps in the design process.
Identifies, selects, and coordinates vendors for printing and publication services, as appropriate to the project; may write and process requests for proposals for printing requisitions; identifies and recommends contractors, such as typesetters, printers, illustrators, photographers, and/or cartographers.
Oversees and coordinates the production process; develops and writes printing and/or other production specifications, and selects appropriate production media and materials, such as ink and paper; inspects proofs for accuracy and adherence to appropriate production standards.
Provides technical advice and guidance, and serves as liaison with production personnel, outside designers, clients, and/or printing representatives on design and technical graphics issues.
Participates in production and/or marketing planning group sessions and meetings, on a project basis.
Maintains a graphics and photographic library.
May create videos using computers and video production equipment.
May supervise and/or lead outside service vendors and partners.
Work closely with the Digital Marketing team to ensure consistency with brand/style guide execution that effectively communicates the institution’s mission.

Bachelor’s degree in related field graphic design, graphic arts, advertising or related field.
Two to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the principles of art, composition, digital graphic design and the ability to communicate simply and strategically through them.
Must be highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Creative Cloud) and Microsoft Office and able to adapt quickly to various other computer programs and technologies. Specifically Illustrator and Photoshop (both PC and Mac).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead, work positively and collaboratively with other departments and vendors.
Applicants must be able to provide a portfolio of previous work/projects for review.
Skills and Experience:
Experience working within company brand guidelines and campaign style guides.
Experience organizing and prioritizing design projects for strict print schedules.
Must be comfortable working in a Windows and Mac application environment.
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
Capacity to anticipate: an ability to think ahead and plan projects accordingly.
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities of competing urgency and importance.
Strong visual communication skills including digital rendering, drafting and presentation preferred.
Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design.
Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment.
Ability to identify and interpret graphic design needs and develop creative and responsive design concepts.
Knowledge of available external graphic design, printing, publication, and associated resources.
Knowledge of graphic layout and photographic requirements and procedures.
Ability to use radio, phone or computer to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions.
Must available to work varied and long shifts including holidays, weekends and in support of events as needed.
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions including sitting, bending, standing, and walking.
