JOB SUMMARY
Will provide clean, sanitary comfortable, orderly and satisfying surroundings for the patients, residents, employees, and public. Responsible for sustaining a sterile environment in all areas of the hospital by cleaning rooms, making beds, replenishing linens and maintaining floors.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the EVS Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education
High School or GED preferred.
Work Experience
On-the-job training required.
Some experience working in a commercial housekeeping environment preferred.
Hospital housekeeping experience preferred.
License/Certification:Hospital Housekeeping certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides clean, sanitary comfortable, orderly and satisfying surroundings for the patients, residents, employees, and public.
Performs the actual cleaning of rooms, floors, furniture, equipment and other items.
Cleans patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas and public restrooms.
Uses various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, cleans equipment and furniture, vacuums carpet and mops floors.
Makes beds, empty trash and restocks supplies.
Collects dirty laundry from all patient areas and distributes the clean linen and hospital gowns back to the appropriate floors.
Uses cleaning supplies and equipment
Takes daily inventory as well as inspects and reports equipment for any repairs or replacements.
Ensures the proper infection-control policies are being followed.
Promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors.
Follows the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood in accordance with the HMC standards.
OTHER DUTIES
May attend in-service training.
Will cross train in nursing home and hospital housekeeping duties.
Adheres to the clocking in and clocking out procedures.
Manages all time and keep all breaks to the required times.
Performs other required duties and special projects as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position demands good physical and mental health.
Must be able to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule, must be able to
move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds

Must be able to see with corrective eye wear
Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
Able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations
May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary
Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests including random and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
