SUMMARY
The Jr. Accountant role is part of the Accounting team. Primarily, this position will be responsible for helping with the preparation of Financial Statements and will review expenses and make corrections, if warranted.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for reviewing and reconciling General Ledger Accounts. Reconcile Bank Accounts Assist in month-end closing and G/L accounts analysis Collect data to determine costs of business activity: such as maintenance of aircrafts, materials used during the process. Prepare and post journal entries, as necessary. Prepare various month-end reports and assist with the month-end process. Analyze monthly GL Expenses to reclass variances if warranted and making sure that System entries are booked to the correct accounts. Book accruals as needed for month-end closing Performs analysis and prepares special reports. Accounts Receivable and Payable duties will be assigned as well. Other duties may be assigned. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Experience with government contracts and FAR regulations preferred, but not necessary Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Experience in a service-oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues. Experience in month end close process adhering to established deadlines. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office Applications. The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required. The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or University in Accounting or equivalent field of study; and at least 2 to 5 years of work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
