Medical Information Management The Medical Information Management (MIM) Department at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center plays a crucial role in maintaining, securing, and ensuring the integrity of patient information. Their responsibilities encompass supporting patient care, education, research, health system operations, connect site affiliates and administrative needs. By effectively managing medical record data and information resources, they ensure that accurate and confidential patient information is readily available for making informed medical decisions. The department adheres to hospital policies, procedures, bylaws, and third-party regulatory requirements, upholding high standards for medical record-keeping.
Medical Records Management The Deficiency Tracking/Dictation (DT) team plays a crucial role in managing medical records. Their responsibilities include:
Facilitating and Monitoring Completion: The DT team oversees the completion of medical records, ensuring that all necessary information is documented. They work closely with attendings, residents, surgeons, CNPs, CNMs, and other licensed healthcare professionals. Initial Analysis at Discharge: When a patient is discharged, the DT team initiates an analysis process. If any information is missing from the patients records, deficiencies are automatically and manually identified and assigned to staff for resolution. Delinquency Management: If documentation remains incomplete, the team takes action. MIM suspends provider privileges (such as operating, admitting, and attending) until documentation aligns with established parameters. Quality Assurance and Compliance: The DT team meticulously reviews completed documentation. They ensure it meets quality standards and complies with regulations, including those set by the Joint Commission, accreditation bodies, HIPAA, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, medical bylaws, and other relevant authorities. This proficient team examines, diagnoses, and resolves issues related dictation reports that are rejected or do not automatically upload to Epic within the Fluency Dispatch Viewer. Their expertise ensures that patient data remains accurate and secure, supporting optimal healthcare outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications For Hire: Per Civil Service requirements: High School diploma or GED. One year experience (1000 hours course work or training) in customer service or communications, including analyzing amp; interpreting information; 6 mos. experience (600 hours training) in operation of computer and related peripheral equipment; 3 mos. experience (300 hrs course work) in information research amp; analysis. Additional Qualifications: Some positions require 3 mos. exp. (300 hrs course work) in supervision management; 3 mos. experience (300 hours course work) in interviewing.
