Job Title: Nuclear Medicine TechnologistPosition Overview:We are dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care, and we understand the vital role that our caregivers play in delivering this mission. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will work closely with a nuclear medicine physician to perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, ensuring accurate imaging and effective treatment for patients.As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, conducting diagnostic imaging procedures, and ensuring that radiation safety protocols are rigorously followed. Your expertise in the operation of specialized equipment and your understanding of human anatomy and radiological science will be crucial in delivering exceptional care. You will also play an important role in communicating with patients, explaining procedures, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout their treatment.Key Responsibilities:Perform diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures: Accurately calculate and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, ensuring that each dosage is appropriate for the specific imaging or treatment plan.Operate advanced nuclear medicine equipment: Utilize state-of-the-art radioscopic systems to capture detailed images of patients' internal organs and tissues, aiding in the diagnosis of medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and other disorders.Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols: Monitor and manage radiation exposure for both patients and healthcare staff, ensuring compliance with all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with healthcare professionals: Work closely with nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, and other members of the medical team to interpret scan results, plan treatments, and provide high-quality care.Maintain accurate patient records: Document all procedures, dosage calculations, and patient interactions in compliance with hospital policies and standards.Patient care and communication: Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures, explain the process clearly, address any concerns or questions, and provide a calm and reassuring presence during treatment.Required Qualifications:Education: Successful completion of an AMA-approved radiologic technologist training program, with specialized training in nuclear medicine.Certification:California Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification upon hire.National Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board upon hire.Or, National Registered Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology upon hire.Licensing:National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.Experience:A minimum of 6 months of recent experience in nuclear medicine (within the last year), or2 years full-time experience with an absence from nuclear medicine of no more than 1 year.Preferred Qualifications:Experience: At least 1 year of experience in nuclear medicine (preferred but not required if a recent graduate from an accredited technician training program).Skills & Competencies:Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in handling and operating complex nuclear medicine equipment, including gamma cameras, PET scanners, and other imaging devices.Knowledge of Radiopharmaceuticals: Strong understanding of the different types of radiopharmaceuticals, their applications, and their safe handling and administration.Radiation Safety: Comprehensive knowledge of radiation safety standards and protocols to protect patients, staff, and the environment.Patient Interaction: Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and medical backgrounds, providing clear instructions and empathetic care.Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy in dosage calculation, patient positioning, and record-keeping to ensure the highest standards of care and safety.Benefits Include:Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.Opportunities for ongoing education and professional development.A collaborative and supportive work environment that values your expertise.Access to advanced technology and state-of-the-art medical equipment.Commitment to your well-being through wellness programs and financial planning resources.
