Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing a wide variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods to delight our guests and elevate their dining experience. You will collaborate closely with the kitchen team to uphold Zuma's standards of excellence and deliver an exceptional dining experience to our guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist in the preparation and production of a diverse range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, following recipes and guidelines established by the Head Pastry ChefExecute precise measurements and techniques to ensure consistency and quality in all pastry creationsPrepare and assemble components for plated desserts, including sauces, creams, garnishes, and accompanimentsBake, decorate, and finish pastries and desserts with attention to detail and presentation standardsMaintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areasFollow all food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling and storage of ingredientsEnsure all the products and prepared items are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated following FIFO (first in, first out)Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations during serviceFollow opening and closing procedures as instructed by kitchen managementUphold Zuma's commitment to quality, excellence, and guest satisfaction in every aspect of food preparationOperate ethically to protect the image of the companyPerforms other duties and responsibilities as required or requested JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Previous experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel environmentSolid understanding of pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, piping, and decoratingKnowledge of pastry ingredients, flavors, and flavor combinationsAbility to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environmentAttention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentationCulinary degree or relevant culinary training is a plusAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standardsMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; Ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularlyAbility to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment Zuma is an equal opportunity employer.
