Overview:
Under general supervision and medical direction, provides any or all of the designated cardiology therapies (Ekg procedures, 24 hour-Holter monitoring, Stress monitoring, and Newborn Hearing Screens), which affect the cardiopulmonary system and aspects of cardiopulmonary function. This position requires providing care and/or service to a critically ill through rehabilitating newborn through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Centers strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
Responsibilities:
Completes and documents initial assessment/care within the required time frames. Performs subsequent care at required intervals. Ensures physical care includes all actual/potential needs. Incorporates cultural and ethnic factors into assessment/care. Correctly differentiates between normal and abnormal findings. Makes appropriate referrals for positive high risk screens. Provides instruction on tests, treatments, and procedures. Identifies barriers to learning. Identifies educational needs upon admission and thereafter. Provides teaching based on identified needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of instruction provided. Assessment and teaching incorporates cultural and ethnic factors. Assessment and teaching incorporates functional/developmental needs. Communicates effectively with physicians and allied health team. Coordinates care with other disciplines involved. Actively participates in multidisciplinary care conferences. Involves allied health care team members, as necessary. Identifies self by name and title to patient/family. Determines presence/type of Advance Directive. Reports suspected cases of abuse/neglect if identified. Establishes presence of consent prior to treatment/procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and post-care Follows established protocols for patients at high risk for suicide or unpredictable behavior. Follows appropriate Code Blue notification procedures. Effectively prioritizes clinical interventions and care. Communicates significant changes in patients condition/status in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to safely perform and use the equipment in the delivery of patient care: - Holter monitor studies - 12-lead EKG
Qualifications:
Education/Training/Experience High School graduate or equivalent Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Licenses/Certifications Current BLS
