Location/Division Specific Information Pharmaceutical Services group (PSG) - Manati, PR How will you make an impact? The utilities operator is responsible for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operations and maintenance of site utilities including high-pressure steam boilers, water systems, compressed air, chilled water, and HVAC. This position requires systems knowledge and training of all campus utilities. The role provides an immediate response to all site facilities emergencies and requires basic craft skills necessary to contain and repair systems breakdowns. How will you make an impact? Ensures all work complies with all regulatory requirements and expectations. Complete assignments per established schedule, work orders are closed timely for completed work and appropriate time reporting is documented for work performed. Works in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace. Responsible to notify area supervisor of any necessary equipment and parts required to allow for proper work execution. Ensures that established standards, including timeliness and quality, are met. Takes direct action to correct and prevent deviations and report variances and exceptions and follow-up on recommendations. Sustains the good state of the utilities systems (audit-ready), compliant with quality and regulatory requirements, as applicable. Operate and maintain utilities systems to provide a safe environment for all site personnel. Responsible for operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers, steam distribution, reheat systems, and condensate return systems. Operates chillers, cooling towers and chilled water distribution loop. Operates HVAC equipment including air handlers, exhaust fans, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, temperature, and pressure controllers, mixing boxes and dust-collector. Operates air compressors, dryers, regulators, and associated distribution piping up to point of use. Operates and maintain purified water pre-treatment, purified water generation and distribution system per SOPs. Operates and maintain diesel-driven or gas-operated generators for normal and emergency power. Operates all systems with emissions and regulatory compliance specification criteria. Operates electrical breakers and switching as per approved procedures, as applicable. Monitors systems performance via direct observation and computerized controls. Operates equipment for best energy performance and sustain energy conservation practices. Performs rounds and readings, documenting utilities performance, observing trends, and optimizing facilities performance, as necessary. If any condition affecting the energy conservation or other efficiency initiatives is observed, it shall be communicated to the supervisor and follow up through completion. Responds promptly to all facilities breakdowns, acting quickly to mitigate losses, stabilize and control, and restore service. Troubleshoots and creates repair work plans. Performs repairs and corrective maintenance work (CM), as necessary. Implements and performs preventive maintenance program (PM), as necessary. Works with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create and complete work orders. Continually trains on existing and new equipment. First response to service outages: Repairs, troubleshoots utilities equipment and systems. Makes connections, replaces parts and start-up systems, as applicable. Makes plumbing, piping, and refrigeration repairs on critical utilities systems. Repairs and replaces leaking coils, steam connections, and steam traps. Makes chilled water piping repairs. Maintains and repairs air-lines, actuators, and controllers. May make control systems adjustments and settings change. Works on both pneumatic and digital controllers. Performs all assignments in accordance with approved procedures. Maintains proficiency in craft skills, including new technologies and techniques. Provides support to project implementation, new business opportunities, and system enhancement initiatives, taking actions to mitigate any potential risks identified, minimize impact to the operational area and meet implementation targets. Serve as contact with external vendors and service providers to coordinate repairs requiring OEM intervention or special skills set. How will you get here? Education: High School Diploma/Vocational and at least two (2) years of experience in GMP's utilities operation and maintenance. Associate / Technical Degree and at least two (2) years of experience in GMP's utilities operation and maintenance. Experience: Two (2) years or more in GMP's utilities maintenance responsibilities is preferred. Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Facility knowledge (SME) of utilities activities to properly operate and maintain the utilities equipment and systems throughout the facility. Use and understand technical data, technical manuals, and manufacturers' handbooks. Present options that limit the downtime of production equipment due to service interruptions. Understand, diagnose, and transfer knowledge to others to diagnose equipment and system problems. Proficient in utilities operations and maintenance requirements with basic technical knowledge in mechanical, piping, HVAC, maintenance planning and scheduling and resource utilization, preventive maintenance programs and maintenance work order procedures on a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Must be willing to respond to all types of emergencies; and spend overtime hours in completing scheduled work. Must be able to plan and organize large volumes of work. Outstanding attention to detail, self-starter, mature, independent and dependable. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure, able to multi-task and results-oriented. Effective time management and prioritization skills. Requires discretion and independent judgment. A very high degree of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and internal clients, including tact to handle sensitive matters.
