The Position
The Accessioner is responsable for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry of patient information. The accessioner follows the SOP's to establish priorities, verify patient information and identify "problem" cases.
Responsibilities
Receive and log specimens.
Enter specimen data and patient information into the system.
Verify patient eligibility.
Document problem cases.
Establish case priorities.
Keep the accession area organized.
Perform any other related functions and responsibilities.
Conform with all the Company's Human Resources Policies.
Observe the safety and hygiene measures established by the Company.
Not engage in improper, disorderly, criminal, or immoral behavior that may reasonably affect the best interests of the Company.
Comply with the orders and instructions of your direct supervisor.
Do not compete with the activity and business of the Company.
Contribute to improving the productivity and competitiveness of the Company.
Requirements and Skills
1 year experience in Accessioning and/or Data Entry.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Able to work rotating shifts.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within established deadlines.
Self-motivated.
Able to coordinate and establish priorities.
Proficient in computer software such as: Word, Excel, Power point.
Ability to read and understand basic elements of medical orders and requisitions.
Working Conditions/ Physical Activity:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
