SUMMARYTo provide Access services in designated county to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. Persons with Lived Experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities or substance abuse disorders are encouraged to apply. The Access therapist has specific responsibility of responding to Access calls, completing Access phone and in person screens, completing intakes and Emergency Services screens in designated locations. The Access therapist must maintain documentation compliance and adherence to AVCMHA policy and procedure. Further responsibilities include collaboration with community referral sources and interagency colleagues, crisis intervention, after hours Emergency Services Staff and Master's on-call participation, reviewing Records Requests, completing Intake Assessments and IPOS', and conducting Case File Reviews. The Access therapist is responsible for determining individual eligibility for initial Intake services and informing the consumer of any possible charges they may incur for services. The Access therapist must have attention to detail, time management skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and organizational skills. Candidates must have an understanding of Medicaid guidelines, medical necessity guidelines, DSM criteria, internal AVCMHA resources, community resources, and therapeutic interventions. The Access Therapist functions as the day time Master's on call for ES staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES Responsible for accessing individuals to determine agency eligibility within established timelines. Refers consumers to Appropriate service agencies if they are found not eligible for AVCMHA services.Complete Access Screens in agency electronic record.Be knowledgeable of medical necessity guidelines as described in the Medicaid and level of care guidelines.Complete Case File Reviews regularly and submit results to program Supervisor and to the Quality Department.Reviews Requests for Records and determines documents to be released.Complete Intake Assessments, apply diagnoses and make accurate treatment recommendations ba-sed on medical necessity.Develops treatments plans which reflect a Person Centered Planning philosophy based on the strengths and desires of each individual provided service.Provides individual/family/group therapy in order to complete the treatment plan.Completes case documentation in the electronic record as required by agency standards.Exhibits strong knowledge of AVCMHA services and referral processes for these services.Per level of care, refers consumers to appropriate AVCMHA services and community agencies/resources.Assists consumers in accessing outside services when needed and appropriate.Assists consumers in applying for insurance.Provides community consultation including court, primary care physician provider, school, DHS, and other agencies within the community as needed.Ensures timely admission of eligible individuals into the system of care.Establish and maintain compliance with agency policy and practice standards.Provide service delivery which supports the achievement of established program outcome.Work closely with Outpatient supervisor to review service needs and plan for future services by making recommendations.Travel is required within the service area, as well as other assignments in the state.Attend meetings of AVCMH or other community partners, as requested.Adhere to document compliance standards as established by Medicaid, PIHP, and AVCMHA Board.Participates in clinical supervision, attends staff meetings and in-services as well as other training opportunities in order to further develop professional competence.Functions in manner which adheres to the ethical standards established by the licensing organization.Maintains mental health licensure and certification as applicable.Provides emergency mental health consults during regular work hours as needed.Participates in emergency services system as on-call staff, and be available for after-hour duties as scheduled on the Emergency Services on-call roster.Participate in emergency services system as Master's on call staff and be available for after-hour duties as needed or requested, applicable to appropriate Master's level credentials.Ability to work with fellow staff, consumers, and other agency professionals in a professional manner.Demonstrates the ability to present one's self, the agency, and the individuals we serve in a positive manner at all times. Adhere to Program Fidelity, such as in the area of DBT, trauma, etc.Demonstrates the ability to utilize motivational interviewing and other therapeutic techniques in individual, family and group treatment.Other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES Must be able to facilitate individual, family and group therapy sessions.Must be able to accurately assess and diagnose mental illness and substance use disorders using the current version of the DSM to determine edibility for Agency services as well as ongoing services.Possess strong ability to complete clinical documentation accurately and timely.Possess a strong ability to develop treatment plans based on assessment recommendations.Complete, pass and be certified in the provision of Emergency Services.Must possess adequate organizational, time management and computer skills.Must be able to participate, complete and become certified in various evidenced based practices as assigned.Complete requirements established by licensing board to become fully licensed in designated field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of and ability to diagnose using the latest version of the DSM. Ability to use computers, computer software programs and standard office equipment. Must demonstrate attention to detail, time management, and organization skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey and receive information (in person, on the phone, or through written correspondence) with the ability to accurately document all form of contact in appropriate location. Good critical thinking, analytical and judgment skills. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Maintain all required trainings and certifications. Possess a valid US driver's license. Vehicle Insurance as required by Michigan Law, and a good driving record. Provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or possession of necessary papers allowing holder to work legally in the United States.Salary $53,560 - 66,600 Annually

Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule and travel throughout the Board's coverage area and, at times, around different areas of the state. Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Michigan, vehicle insurance as required by Michigan Law, and a good driving record; be a U.S. Citizen or have possession of necessary papers allowing holder to work legally within the United States.
