The Accountant is responsible for the receipting function and posting credit card transactions. Researches and resolves issues as needed and/or requested.
COMPENSATION Full-time exempt position with benefitsRemuneration Range: 83-96% ($77k - $89k annually) SUPERVISOR Eugene. Korff ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs the receipting function including issuing receipts.Processes credit card transactions.Responds to donors who call with questions about past or future transactions.Understands and can explain IRS requirements for deductibility of contributions.Understands and can explain circumstances and conditions in which "church channels" can, and cannot, be used to transfer funds to a donor's desired destination/beneficiary.Prepares journal entries to record Adventist Mission's cash, check, and credit card donations.Keeps supervisor fully appraised as to activities.Works with supervisor in the creation and monitoring of department key performance indicators.Engages in professional growth opportunitiesActively participates in, and supports a culture of professional growth within GC TreasuryMust be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule.Other job-related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelors (BA/BS) in accounting or equivalent required. Must have the equivalent of a full year of Intermediate Accounting. Relevant successful work experience and/or coursework may be acceptable in lieu of educational requirement.Minimum of three years of direct accounting experience including payroll required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Broad knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Knowledge of church structure and organization.Must be highly organized, give attention to accuracy and detail, and work resourcefully and efficiently under deadlines.Highly developed accounting skills.Strong understanding of spreadsheets and accounting software programs.Strong English language abilities in oral and written forms.Knowledge of up-to-date accounting and office procedures such as filing, telephone techniques, office equipment (including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel).Must be able to facilitate good communications among departmental staff, other departments, and outside personnel.
