Accounting at Brex The Accounting team at Brex ensures we have perfect financial reporting, but even more so we serve as the testers of Brex's financial products, providing analysis and feedback as the first users prior to product releases. We're not only responsible for maintaining accurate books and records for financial reporting, but we're deeply passionate about automation and partner closely with the engineering team to implement technological improvements.
What you'll do The Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial records and in developing scalable and sustainable processes as the business grows. As the Accounting Manager you will be exposed to a variety of areas, including but not limited to our charge card, payment and SaaS products, cash movements, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis and more. You will work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued. The Accounting Manager is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.
Responsibilities Ownership of the end-to-end accounting processes, reconciliations, policies and activities related to the primary Brex product (i.e. Brex Card). This includes accounting for and assessing the appropriateness of estimates and assumptions used in rewards, network fees, card receivables and CECL.Ensure timely close through the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations and variance analytics, as well as coordination with FP&A.Identify and deliver process improvements via cross functional collaboration.Create sustainable, repeatable and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentation.Act as the subject matter expert on the above areas and work with technical accounting team to research, resolve and communicate technical issues.Serve as a key contact between accounting, finance, and the broader business organization to help with key projects, initiatives, transactions, and planning recommendations.Requirements College graduate with a 4-year degree in Accounting or related field.4-6 years of public accounting and/or private industry experience.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and address difficult situations in a professional manner.Innovative and able to provide "outside of the box" solutions.Passion for having an owner's mentality towards responsibilities and for career growth.Experience implementing and improving business processes and systems.Talented and highly motivated with a self-starter mentality.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage deadlines effectively.Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.Must be able to work in-office 2 days/week on Wednesday & Thursday.Bonus Points Licensed CPA.A combination of public accounting and private industry experience.Relevant experience in credit card/payment processing.Knowledge and experience using NetSuite, Looker and/or other data visualization/ automation software.Compensation Salary: The expected salary range for this role is $124,752 - $155,940. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
