(APPRENTICE)FIELD TECH I DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purpose
Complete moderate to complex projects as a part of a crew in the assembly, vacuum oil fill, testing, maintenance, and/or repair of power transformers under the guidance of Senior Field Service Technicians. The primary work setting will be outdoors and will be accomplished during all climatic conditions. Tasks require moderate to heavy amounts of physical effort while understanding the importance of safety. Main Responsibilities
Perform hands-on assembly, repairs, and maintenance of transformers and equipment.
Support the team during maintenance services so that all tasks are completed safely, timely, and of the utmost quality.
Operate the oil processor and make standard transformer test connections under the guidance of our senior and or lead field service technicians.
Assist other technicians with general equipment maintenance and restocking supplies.
Review the project itinerary, work scope, and drawings prior to arriving onsite for a clear understanding of the requirements.
Maintain your timesheets and expense reports for a timely submittal.
Duties
Understanding how oil processors function and able to complete vacuum logs, circulate oil, process oil, and drain/fill a transformer.
Complete mechanical and electrical assembly/connections specified by engineering drawings, work instructions, and procedures.
Able to identify/troubleshoot issues unsupervised (leaks, replacing gauges, radiators, current transformers, etc.).
Assist with transformer acceptance testing.
Identify components and implementation of proper tools, and identification of loose parts, ability to crosscheck the shipping manifest and work scope to know what is missing.
Education & Experience
No prior transformer experience is required, but mechanical experience is a benefit.
Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid driver license with clean record.
Construction and mechanical experience desired.
TWIC, OSHA 10/30, First-Aid, MEWP, Forklift certifications are preferred, but not required. Will be included in office training.
Travel Requirements
Must be willing to travel 70% of the time or based on market demand.
Willing to travel to work locations via car and plane.
Willing to work for long/unexpected durations at short notice.
Work Environment & Physical Demands While performing this job, the employee is required to frequently walk; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required some of the time to stand and sit. The employee is required to occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms. On average (300 - 600 overtime hours annually)
