The SoM Assistant/Associate Dean of Student Affairs will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the student experience, cultivating a supportive and collaborative school environment, providing personal and health/wellness support, supporting academic/career planning and industry partnerships, and fostering student success. Of particular importance is an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion across all student services, which the Assistant/Associate Dean will actively promote. This position is under the School of Medicine Dean and is also liaison to the Institutional Dean for Students Affairs, Institutional Wellness Program and Institutional Chief Diversity Officer. The person is committed to the UCC SOM mission - To form competent diverse health professionals with an excellent academic preparation within a humanistic and holistic framework.
Doctoral degree or equivalent in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Medicine, Health Sciences or related disciplines. • 5+ years of experience in higher education, focused on student academic success. • 5+ years experience with managing student and/or faculty related sensitive issues, and confidential records and materials. • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish. • Excellent communication skills, in English and Spanish, as evidenced by accurate preparation of oral and written materials including presentations, proposals, reports, memoranda and correspondence of both a technical and confidential nature. • Experience with developing a positive working environment, including respectful and collaborative working relationships. • Experience with diverse, inclusive and equity initiatives
