Description
Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented Associate Corporate Counsel to support the Amazon Web Services ("AWS") Sales and Marketing legal team. This Corporate Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership, support complex cloud technology transactions, and find and develop innovative solutions that enable us to scale legal support to our global client base.
This role will support AWS's pricing and operations teams, which are dynamic and fast-growing businesses across the globe. Key responsibilities in supporting these businesses include negotiating and drafting strategic agreements, innovating to modernize and scale our legal support, and advising on launches of new products and tools. This role will also participate in other AWS legal projects, including managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, advising on privacy issues and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently on transactional and project work.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of legal experience
Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Experience in private practice or in-house experience at a technology company or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent
Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.
Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
