Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Programs is a key role in the Corporate and Executive Programs Practice as this leader is responsible for the implementation of corporate programs, is a team leader of a large portfolio of initiatives, and a strategic partner in the growth of new initiatives.

The programs under the responsibility of the Associate Director are most often custom signature programs for cohorts of executives designed and delivered on contract for corporate clients, but are also lifelong learning programs run through, or in collaboration with, Northeastern's global network of campuses and regional corporate partners.

The Associate Director works in partnership with the Senior Program Director and is also a team lead with others.

The Associate Director is a critical leader involved in three major areas of the work of the Practice:

Building and maintaining relationships with clients and university stakeholders.

The Associate Director will work to establish and implement short- and long-term business strategies fostering and solidifying relationships with current and potential clients to ensure continuous future growth of the Corporate and Executive Learning Practice.

This will include working with the leaders of the Practice to prepare proposals for new business and assist to support new client development. The Associate Director will contribute to the department's strategic planning activities.

Complex Program Execution

The Associate Director will work independently, with others on the team, to coordinate, manage and administer the development and execution of complex corporate learning and executive programs. These programs often involve multiple modalities (live virtual; face to face) on campus or in geographies off campus and around the world, as designed. This work requires the selection of, and the coordination with, faculty and external facilitators to design and deliver high quality executive programs. This role has a high level of engagement and accountability with the Practice's clients and business champions to co-design programs that meet and exceed expectations.

Having oversight of the creation of applied learning and project-based learning that may include the integration of external business mentors all add to the complexity of the programs. This role prepares and initiates contracts with clients, following though and troubleshoots issues that may arise through client and/or university contracts offices.

Working with faculty is integral to the success of this role and key to identify and schedule program deliverables, milestones and required tasks for synchronous and asynchronous learning. The Associate Director manages program execution and provides necessary training and support to new program managers and student support.

Budgetary

The Associate Director, in coordination with the individual program managers and Senior Program Manager, oversees and interprets financial reporting systems for individual programs in their portfolio. They manage the reconciling of program budgets and contribute to the overall financial oversight and mission of the department in collaboration with the Senior Project Director and Assistant Dean.

Qualifications: 3 -5 years of related experience or previously demonstrated experience. Bachelor's degree is required. MBA in business, or advanced degree in education or related field preferred. Curiosity and interest in business trends, business education and workplace learning a must. Demonstrated experience working in a client-driven or service-driven environment. Consultative influencing, or sales experience, preferred. Previous experience in university-based executive education, or in-house corporate learning a plus. Willingness and ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends, and extended days - as needed for client work or execution of programs. Ability to travel domestically and internationally - as needed. Ability to work remotely as well as work from the university campus - as scheduled and as needed at any time. Understanding of basic financial acumen and program budgeting. Ability to lift and transport program materials (~10lbs) if needed. Skillsets: Creative and innovative mindset a must. Ability to contribute thinking that births new ideas and new perspectives that support the growth and health of the Practice. Strong interpersonal skills that fosters followership and conveys a strong identity of the Corporate and Executive Learning brand. Sales-oriented and driven for growth. Ability to effectively collaborate with others so diverse viewpoints and perspectives can be leveraged for key Practice activities including but not limited to, agile brainstorming, scoping requirements, project planning and resource allocating, and troubleshooting problems and issues - as needed. Ability to interact highly-effectively with senior level corporate constituencies in person, in remote meetings and through written communication. Ability to develop strong rapport and influence with clients, and internal and external stakeholders. Ability to interact effectively with faculty and senior level university administrators. Ability to form and operationalize short- and long-term program and project plans. Fluency, comfort and effectiveness managing and working in a live virtual classroom setting as well as in face to face settings Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to negotiate and execute agreements with vendors, internal stakeholders and with university clients. Excellent networking and written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills (written proposals and oral pitches) Strong understanding of customer relationship management Ability to work successfully across a diverse group of internal and external clients, and comfort at calling on all levels of within an organization, Ability to balance multiple and competing priorities under tight deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as collaborate successfully. Ability to manage others very effectively, including balancing a collaborative work environment with quality work on deadline. Ability to handle conflict and establish successful outcomes to complex issues. Knowledge and skills related to executive education program development and management. High level of proficiency with standard office software and an aptitude to quickly gain proficiency in new office software. High level of proficiency using live collaboration software (MS Teams / Zoom preferred). The ability to manage in highly ambiguous situations and environments. Curiosity and interest in keeping current with technologies, learning strategies and corporate contexts that will affect the growth potential of the Practice.
