GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of Associate Director of Development, Grants. This is a full-time administrative staff position with a primary focus on securing foundation support to advance Pacific University's mission, particularly in the areas of scholarships, general operating funds, and initiatives outlined in the University's forthcoming strategic plan.
Annual Salary: $85,000
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the entire grants life-cycle within the assigned portfolio, including: prospect research, identification, cultivation, communication, proposal development, grant supervision, and stewardship. Design compelling grant proposals, cases for support and project reports to effectively communicate our mission, goals, and impact. Build and maintain a working grants calendar. Collaborate with various University and program directors and Development team staff to maximize philanthropic potential. Focus on building bridges across units and devising creative approaches to increase proposals. Develop innovative cultivation methods, leveraging campus events to introduce foundation program officers and representatives to key staff. Strategize with gift officers on university-wide projects to determine how grants work can support overall fundraising goals. Work in concert with the office responsible for sponsored research to supplement and complement grant requests to government agencies. Direct foundation approaches and solicitations, engaging key stakeholders such as the president, provost, deans and directors as needed. This includes prospect identification, assignment, solicitation, and follow-up. Supporting fundraising efforts targeting strategic partnerships and initiatives. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Manage grant-specific consultants for additional university grants and initiatives as asked. Assist campus partners with federal funding as requested. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:

Qualifications EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:A Bachelor's degree is required, along with 3-5 years of successful grant writing experience. Familiarity with higher education and nonprofit sectors is preferred. The ideal candidate should have a strong track record as a persuasive writer and in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of funders, including individuals and organizations. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS: Communicates with students, faculty, staff and the public appropriate to the age of the individual served. Builds on basic learning and carries it from one situation to another. Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making. Asks questions and seeks assistance. Takes responsibility to eliminate the source of problems. Demonstrates confidentiality regarding information pertaining to all students, faculty and staff. Maintains proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee's particular job. Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment. Persuasive grant writer with a proven track record in crafting technical grant documents, including RFPs, proposals, budgets, and reports. Independent worker seeking active participation in a thriving campus community. Proficient in fundraising techniques, including proposal development, prospect identification, program planning, fund solicitation, and donor tracking. Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster and maintain effective relationships. Committed to developing knowledge of, respect for, and the ability to engage with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Values initiative, maturity, cultural depth and breadth, discipline, creativity, and integrity. Possesses a high degree of organizational skills and database management skills. Demonstrates sound judgment and a strong understanding of ethics in development activities, maintaining a high level of confidentiality and responsibility regarding University business and confidential prospect information. Exercises discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is based on Pacific's Forest Grove Campus but may require occasional travel to other campuses, as well as throughout the Portland Metro Area and some regional travel. This position requires the ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours occasionally. This position is primarily sedentary office work. Occasionally this position will need to stand and walk; twist; lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 25 pounds Ability to communicate effectively via phone email, online meetings, and in person.
