Overview
Transmission Relay Engineer required to join collaborative engineering culture in Orange and Rockland Engineering. The work allows for broad, diverse experience managing small to large projects that allow engineers to learn and be challenged.Associate Engineer: Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer or Manager of Transmission and Substation Engineering, performs Electrical Engineering work in the Transmission Relay Engineering discipline. The work involves the design and application of Utility grade relay systems to the transmission and substation systems for the Company. Provides engineering support to various operations groups throughout the Company.

Knowledge of different relay protection schemes used for Transmission system protection.
Knowledge or familiarity on reviewing relay and meter one-line diagrams, schematics and construction drawings.
Knowledge of Relay Setting Calculations for electromechanical, solid state, and microprocessor type relays.
Work with Engineer or Senior Engineer to supports the field personnel to develop relay system testing, analyze system problems and perform root cause analysis.
Work with Engineer or Senior Engineer to prepare outage reports for each system relay operation and system disturbances utilizing relay/DFR records. Provide test letters and corrective action plans.
Performs preliminary Engineering cost estimates for feasibility studies as required to develop project alternatives.
Participates in departmental meetings and serves on committees as required.
Informs department leads on the progress of projects, including the department budget.
Actively participates in the Companys Emergency Response Plan through a designated storm assignment.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and 1-3 years of total work experience to include one year of applicable engineering work (Engineer)
Relevant Work Experience
Experience and/or knowledge of Transmission relay design, settings and testing. Required
Minimum 1 year experience related to relay and control system design. Preferred
Interpret one-line, schematic, logic diagrams, and wiring drawings. Preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, technical and computer skills. Preferred
Must show ability to apply good individual judgment, initiative, creativity and decision making in the handling of assignments. Preferred
Knowledge of ASPEN and SEL/GE software. Preferred
Licenses And Certfications
Driver's License Required
Professional Engineer (PE) Preferrederable to have a NY, NJ & PA Professional Engineers License or be in the process of qualifying for a license. Preferred
Additional Physical Demands
Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
