Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs, Boston University Tracking Code24599934410826Job DescriptionBoston University (BU) seeks an outstanding individual with exceptional academic, strategic, and interpersonal capabilities to join the University's senior academic leadership team in the role of the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs. The Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs is the senior officer with responsibility for assuring that BU provides a high-quality graduate education and a supportive environment for our graduate students that is aligned with the aspirational goals in the University's strategic plan.

Boston University, a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), is one of the leading private research and teaching institutions in the world, with two primary campuses in the heart of Boston (the Charles River Campus is located in the Fenway-Kenmore Square neighborhood and the Medical Campus is located in the South End neighborhood), as well as programs around the globe. Chartered in 1869, the University today enrolls over 37,000 students including over 11,600 graduate and professional students and employs over 3,700 faculty across 17 schools and colleges.

BU is the fourth largest private university in the United States and one of the Boston area's largest employers. The growth of Boston University over the last quarter century is profound, as it has evolved from a regional university, with a focus on undergraduate and professional education, to an internationally recognized residential research university that attracted more than $600 million for sponsored research in 2023 across both Boston campuses.

Reporting to the University Provost and Chief Academic Officer, the Associate Provost will provide central leadership for the University's graduate education initiatives, working closely with the University's schools and colleges to support interdisciplinary and co-curricular education and research, increase graduate student access to a wider variety of interdisciplinary programs, and foster greater collaboration between the Charles River campus and Medical Center campus graduate programs. This individual will be responsible for: curriculum management and development and review of new and existing graduate programs; creating systems for accountability, access and inclusion; promoting interdisciplinary graduate education and research programs; facilitating University Fellowships programs; assisting with the recruitment and retention of a diverse pool of graduate students; overseeing a comprehensive graduate professional development program; and articulating and creating an institutional vision structured around graduate education. The Associate Provost will work with members of the BU academic community to promote BU's graduate strengths externally.
