Resource 1 is in need of a Lead Test Automation Engineer for a long-term position for our client in the Chicago suburbs. This role will start off as a contract but has the potential to convert to full-time in the future. Our client is based in Oak Brook, IL and requires 2 days per week onsite (Mondays and Thursdays), so candidates must be local to the Chicagoland area. This hands-on Lead will partner with Business Analysts and the Software Development team to identify the most important issues in their software products/ clinical applications prior to production launches. This individual will be instrumental in driving testing efforts, suggesting improvements to existing QA processes, evolving test strategies and enforcing test automation best practices. Hands-on testing will consist of 70% automation testing (using Katalon) and 30% manual testing.
Responsibilities: Perform and lead the planning, creation and execution of detailed test cases for web-based and mobile (native and responsive) user interfaces. Develop or make enhancements to the test automation framework and automation test scripts as new system features and enhancements to software products are developed.
Plan and implement automated testing for all workstreams to improve overall testing cycle and to deliver best quality products.
Organize and participate in test plan walkthroughs.
Lead the planning and execution of various kinds of tests (functional, performance, system, exploratory, smoke, regression, back-end (SQL), front-end, API, etc.) to ensure products fulfill business requirements.
Work with Agile team to analyze gaps between current product and the desired state, evaluating and implementing improvements to software products.
Assist with project planning, tracking, status reporting, issue management/ escalation/ resolution and change control.
Conduct root cause analysis and identify, analyze, document and help facilitate the correction of defects in the software.
Continuously learn, adopt and mentor others on new testing tools, technologies, strategies and best practices in test automation.
Identify/ analyze problems and assess potential issues to improve SaaS products. Qualifications: Experience in Quality Assurance, with an emphasis on automated testing.Prior experience working as a hands-on Lead, including the ability to drive testing initiatives, estimate project duration, identify tasks needed to complete projects and communicate/ manage task status.Demonstrated strength in test plan/ case/ script development.Strong knowledge of Team Foundation Server (TFS), GitHub and Release Manager.Experience with Katalon automation testing tool preferred, but will consider experience with Selenium, Playwright or other similar automation tool. Experience with Postman for API testing. Experience with Cucumber test framework. Ideal candidate would have experience in a software product development environment for a company in healthcare industry.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Business or equivalent work experience. Master's Degree (MIS or MBA) preferred.
