Job Summary:
The Banquet Cook at Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey is a key member of our culinary team and plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This is a full-time, hourly position within the various food and beverage outlets of the resort, including banquets, catering, and restaurant service. The Banquet Cook will work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure that all food served meets the highest quality and presentation standards.
Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly position with a starting pay range of $18 to $20 per hour, paid biweekly. Employees are also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k retirement plan, paid time off, and employee discounts at the resort.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes and food safety guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the kitchen, including proper storage and labeling of food items
- Prepare and set up food stations for banquets and events, ensuring timely and efficient service
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to develop and update menus for banquets and catering events
- Assist in food inventory and ordering as needed
- Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures throughout service
- Coordinate with servers and banquet staff to ensure timely and accurate food service
- Assist with plating and presentation of dishes according to banquet event orders
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and standards
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience as a cook in a banquet or catering setting
- Culinary degree or formal training from a recognized culinary program is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
