The mission of the International Institute of New England (IINE) is to create opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed through resettlement, education, career advancement and pathways to citizenship. One of the oldest and largest human services organizations for New Americans in the region, IINE serves more than 4,000 people each year in Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire. Our programs include case management, youth and family services, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), employment and skills training, and immigration legal services.

Overview

The Case Aide will provide administrative and case support to staff providing Post Release Services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) and their sponsors. This position will report to the Regional Supervisor.

Department: Unaccompanied Children's Program (UC) Reports to: Regional Supervisor Supervises: N/A Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time Location: Massachusetts Position Format: Remote Pay: $24.04/hour Benefits:

Responsibilities Conduct routine calls to clients to assist with coordination of services and assess for safety Conduct outreach with local community agencies to identify appropriate community resources for clients, ensuring they are culturally and linguistically appropriate Assist in completing applications and referral forms Accompany clients (or provide telephonic support) to facilitate school enrollment and access to community resources, as needed Provide ongoing administrative support to PRS workers Maintain a high standard of record-keeping according to USCRI and ORR policies and procedures Provide information, education, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to ensure that each child receives the services they require Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement on an ongoing basis using child welfare principles and social work best practices through phone/video calls, interviews, and home visits Build a network of local pro bono legal resources and service providers to facilitate access for UC and sponsors, and track individual progress Coordinate and maintain communication with key stakeholders Participate in regular training and communication sessions with supervisor and headquarters staff Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Required Skills/Abilities Must possess an extensive knowledge of immigrant community local resources Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, a clean driving record, and personal transportation Fluency in Spanish and English is required; proficiency in additional languages a plus Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to comply with mandatory state reporting requirements for child abuse and neglect Candidate must have dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers and displaced people Candidate must pass a criminal background check that includes past history of conviction of child and sexual abuse Possess or be able to obtain CPR and basic first aid certification Education & Experience Associate's degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children required Bachelor's degree in Social Work, International Studies, or related humanitarian field is preferred Experience with immigrant populations, child welfare, child placements, family preservation and social service provision is desired Work Environment Conditions Position is remote and the candidate must have an appropriate workspace to complete documentation, client phone calls, and video conferencing Occasional travel to the Boston office (2x/mo) or for all staff events. Exposure to bright, overhead office lighting, use of office technology such as laptops, printers, mail machines, and other in-office equipment. Frequent Driving to/from client homes-May require long distance travel Physical Demands Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling materials (boxes, equipment) of 50 pounds or more. Continuous sitting (or standing) at a desk for long periods of time. Occasional driving to and from IINE offices as needed-N/A for NY employees Covid-19 Policy

IINE does not require applicants for most positions to show proof of Covid-19. Some federal contracts, however, require IINE staff to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination, and some immigration status adjustments, such as a Green Card, require proof of Covid-19 vaccination as well. Consequently, for some positions, IINE staff may be required to show proof of vaccination, and in others, IINE staff will be supporting clients who are required by law to have proof of vaccination in order to adjust their status in the United States.
