The Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR or "see clear"?) is the only national non-profit organization pioneering infill and brownfield redevelopment to promote human and environmental health and economic revitalization. Our mission is to enable communities to develop sustainably and equitably through land recycling---restoring underutilized sites to productive use. Our particular expertise is remediating and redeveloping environmentally-distressed propertiescommonly called "brownfields"?. About the Role The Company is seeking new board members to join its mission of revitalizing communities through sustainable and equitable land reuse. Board members play a crucial role in the organization, sharing responsibilities that include compliance with statutory duties, setting and monitoring long-range goals, establishing policy, and ensuring the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate for this volunteer position should be motivated to advance the sustainable and equitable reuse of underutilized properties, ready to step into a trustee role with a background in governance and strategy, and able to represent the interests of under-resourced communities. Professional backgrounds in environmental law, environmental justice, communications, marketing, fundraising, affordable housing, and nonprofit finance are particularly valued.
Responsibilities for board members at the company include attending quarterly meetings, becoming knowledgeable about the organization, contributing to meetings, and supporting the organization through various activities. The successful candidate will be rigorous, collaborative, and committed to working with the Executive Director and staff as part of a governance team. They should be prepared to make a meaningful donation and serve on at least one committee. The company is dedicated to diversity and inclusivity and encourages candidates from under-resourced and underserved communities to apply. The organization is particularly interested in candidates with affiliations with universities, tribal communities, or national organizations, and those who reside in or have experience in the focus area states.
