A Brief Overview
The Business Systems Analyst is a professional responsible for analyzing the business needs of an organization and identifying ways to improve its efficiency and effectiveness using technology. The Business Systems Analyst in the Comptroller's Department provides support to the Accounting Manager & Oracle Administrator in leading the process of implementing new strategies and/or functionalities within the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and other modules. Additionally, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for using their knowledge of systems and business strategies to help drive the Finance Department's strategic goals, improve financial processes, support strategic decision-making, reduce costs, maximize productivity, and achieve added efficiencies within currently owned and future technologies.
The Business Systems Analyst will be a liaison with other operational units as part of our ongoing efforts to transform and innovate our current accounting procedures. The Business Systems Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the development process, and to ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT understanding of business requirements and oversight of project/solution implementation and documentation.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Collaborating with finance professionals to understand business needs and identify areas where technology can improve financial processes.
Analyzing and documenting financial processes, workflows, and requirements and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Conducting gap analysis to identify discrepancies between current business processes and desired outcomes.
Evaluating and recommending solutions that meet financial requirements, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, among others.
Developing and implementing enhancements to current financial systems, including testing, and training, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies.
Providing training and support to end-users to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and technologies.
Developing and maintaining dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools to support decision-making.
Monitoring and analyzing system performance and financial data to identify risks and areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
Participating in project planning and providing input on project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure that the organization remains competitive and innovative in financial management.
Provides support to special projects, initiatives, and presentations accordingly.
Prepare, review, and submit consolidation schedules for month-end closing.
Actively participates in the audit process for the department area, having direct interaction with the auditors.
Assists in the preparation of quarterly disclosures for regulatory filings and budget preparation and variance analysis, as required.
Maintains current knowledge of applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
To be successful in this role, a Business Systems Analyst in the finance department should have a strong background in finance and accounting, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. They should also have experience with financial systems and technology, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis tools.
Competencies:
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Fully bilingual (English and Spanish) with excellent written and communication skills.
Oracle ERP Financials & Oracle EPM knowledge, preferred.
Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
Time management skills

What You'll Need:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. Two years or more of experience in accounting, finance, project management, business administration, or related field, preferred. The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of their work.
