About the Role
The Buyer for west elm Outlet owns the product assortment for the outlet stores, and partners with Inventory Management, distribution, and field leadership to ensure product availability to maximize sales across the division. The Buyer builds a strong relationship with planning, brand merchants, and field leadership teams to drive results in the outlet business.
This role is onsite in Brooklyn 4x a week.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement appropriate methods to determine necessary inventory levels for key products and inventory components to meet customer demand. Collaborate with store teams on product needs and selling strategy to drive results. Make strategic decisions about the outlet product assortment based on efficient data analysis. Utilize wholistic customers shopping insights to inform business decisions. Consistently review and facilitate opportunities to reallocate inventory from brand to outlet, to drive sales. Estimate and communicate impacts for inventory overages, needs and selling opportunities to field and brand leadership. Participate in the development of communication tools to enhance product availability and deliver a best-in-class customer experience. Visit stores and collaborate with field teams to understand customer insights and inform product decisions. Collaborate with Visual Merchandising to plan the Outlet floor set, ensuring product strategy is reflected in store. Qualifications and Required Competencies BA and or equivalent professional experience required. 3+ years of experience in buying or inventory management preferred. 5+ years of experience in the retail industry required. A demonstrated understanding of consumer shopping trends and analytics required. Familiarity with inventory management tools and processes required. Proven capability to drive results through product assortment in a retail environment required. Proficient use of MS Office Products, MRP and ERP systems preferred. Excellent retail math skills required. Experience leading others in a project setting, delivering learning strategies, instructing, and complex problem solving preferred. The expected starting pay range for this position is $95,000-$110,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
