A Brief Overview
This position serves as a Cardiac Sonographer Intern who is a current student of an approved Echocardiography Program. The Cardiac Sonographer Intern will work in the echocardiography laboratory in the hospital setting with direct supervision from an appropriately credentialed Cardiac Sonographer. The Cardiac Sonographer Intern must be willing to learn all aspects of an echocardiographic exam, have a basic knowledge of cardiac pathology/echo equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications: Education High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and Enrolled in an approved Echocardiography Program and within one to two semesters from graduation (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic knowledge of cardiac pathology (Required proficiency) Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of echocardiography (Required proficiency) Ability to learn to use all types of echo machines (Required proficiency) Basic computer skills (Required proficiency) Good communication skills (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or RCS of graduation from an approved Echocardiography Program within 1 Year (Required) and Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required) Physical Demands Standing Frequently Walking Frequently Sitting Rarely Lifting Frequently 50 lbs Carrying Frequently 50 lbs Pushing Frequently 50 lbs Pulling Frequently 50 lbs Climbing Occasionally 50 lbs Balancing Occasionally Stooping Frequently Kneeling Frequently Crouching Frequently Crawling Occasionally Reaching Frequently Handling Frequently Grasping Frequently Feeling Constantly Talking Constantly Hearing Constantly Repetitive Motions Constantly Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination Constantly Travel Requirements 10%
