Overview
The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All Team Members must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move Team Members from their accustomed shift as business demands change. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
Responsibilities
To keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day to day maintenance of the hotel under the direction of Engineering Management.
To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and associates.
To be an independent mechanic, able to analyze problems and to formulate plans to get work done quickly including procurement of materials, parts, etc, and necessary scheduling arrangements with a high.
Will perform the following repair and maintenance:
Guest Rooms - plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners and cosmetic items, replacing electrical switches and outlets and programming TV's.
Public Areas - plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing and/or adjusting all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical, HVAC equipment and cosmetic items.
Fire Alarm/Life Safety System - to monitor systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems. To have a working knowledge of fire sprinklers and emergency power systems.
Energy Conservation - to observe energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds. To look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to the Engineering Management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Related degree from a technical college.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
Experience performing routine maintenance.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
Eye for detail.
