Case Manager - Brooklyn Family Court Summary:
The Brooklyn Family CourtProgram offers case management and practical assistance to victims ofcrime.The overall goal of the programis to reduce the impact of victimization through advocacy, counseling and othersupport services.The Case Managerprovides case management services to victims of domestic violence involved inthe family court system and victims of crimes committed by juveniledelinquents.
Responsibilities: Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients. Coach and guide staff in their client practice that reflects these approaches.
Provide client-centered crisis intervention, emotional support andcase management to victims of crime and abuse;
Provide information regarding the Family Court process, courtprocedures and the types of relief available, including Orders ofProtection;
Advocate with Family Court personnel (Judges, Court Clerks, CourtOfficers, civil legal attorneys, etc.) and the criminal justice system onbehalf of clients;
Safety planning and risk assessment;
Refer victims to shelters and other services as needed;
Assist clients with relocation and housing;
Provide emergency practical assistance including OVS compensationapplications, transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance,emergency cell phones, lock replacement, etc.;
Attend internal and external meetings, trainings and workshops;
Maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics;
Various other duties to be determined by supervisor.
Interacts with: Family Court personnel including Judges, Clerks, and Court Officers; Civil Legal Attorneys including members of the 18B panel, Law Guardians, and Domestic Violence attorneys; NYPD; District Attorney's Office; ACS; and other legal and social service providers.

Knowledge and Skills:
Required: Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and other forms of victimization;
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence;
Excellent communication and organizational skills;
Ability to work as part of a team while also independently generating tasks;

Hiring Range: 23.35 - 24.73 Hourly
