JOB SUMMARY
Assumes responsibility for all radiographic imaging and technical consideration involved in the performance of complex interventional cardiovascular procedures. Also responsible for daily scheduling of patient caseload, patient transportation and participating in all schedules.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate of accredited program of radiology technology
2. Current license with Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety
3. Current CPR certification
4. Two years of Cath lab experience preferred
SUPERVISION
Exercised: None. Oversees orientation of new nurses to any procedures, and equipment. May serve as a preceptor for new nurses and technologist.
Received: Reports to Manager, Cardiac Cath Lab
JOB RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
May serve as resource to Cardiologist, Cardiac services or department in sponsored programs of instruction and training of others health care professionals, students and physicians on behalf of West Suburban Medical Center.
Utilizes good communication skills in daily interactions with patients, families, physicians, unit and hospital personnel. Adjusts patient interaction and/or treatment to match each patient's age-specific developmental, educational, or other related needs.
JOB DUTIES (* denotes "essential function")
1. Demonstrates the WSMC Transformation for Success eight elements, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers. *Assesses treatment and care for specific patient populations and plans age appropriate care. Utilize hands on physical assessment skills interview techniques to formulate a clinical data base, analyzes collected information derived from patients and other sources to identify age- appropriate patient problems and needs. *
2. Independently implements plan of care utilizing professional technical skills and collaborates with and instructs patients, members of families/significant other and care team. Demonstrates ability to function in emergency situations. *
3. Employs radiation protection devices and techniques as required for patient and staff safety. Performs and maintains required records of quality control checks for radiological equipment. Maintains film badge records. *
5. Uses his or her technical skills to formulate appropriate question for measuring outcomes. Evaluates responses to therapeutic intervention. Make judgements based on data collected. *
6. Supports department of nursing and hospital policy and procedures. *
7. Performs scrub and monitoring duties. *
4. Complies with Cardiac Cath Lab department policy and procedures. Complies with the standards and guidelines established by JCAHO. *
5. Maintains environment and equipment in an appropriate manner. Supports Cardiac Cath team. Resolves problems, support customer service.
6. May be responsible for maintaining proper operation of equipment in lab.
7. Demonstrates responsibility for own professional practice and growth by ensuring clinical knowledge base and skills are maintained and enhanced. Supports and maintains current knowledge of organizational and unit policies and procedures. *
