Job Description This position requires a Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Illinois, or a high-level certification of similar or related field to lead Gewalt Hamiltons (GHA) Transportation Services Division. This position requires independent work skills to lead in day-to-day operations, the ability to communicate and collaborate with GHA staff, clients, and outside agencies to implement division objectives.
As Director you shall utilize the company values in all phases of your work. You shall monitor all projects and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills and be a self-starter. You will also guide and oversee other team members in projects varying size and complexity, meeting schedules and budgets in a timely manner. In addition, show competency in the following areas:
Responsibilities:

* Lead project pursuits and manage project teams in Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients including Municipalities, IDOT, Counties, and Tollway; Signal Monitoring and Signal Coordination and Timing projects; Traffic Impact Studies and Transportation Planning projects; and lead a variety of transportation designs, studies, and reports for roadway/highway rehabilitation or reconstruction, intersections, traffic signals, pedestrian and bike facilities, and associated infrastructure improvement projects. Such work will include coordination and assistance to other company divisions.
* Supervise and oversee 10-15 employees.
* Supervise and oversee projects assigned to Transportation Services Division.
* Create yearly Division Goals with President and implement and monitor those goals.
* Develop project proposals, project scope, schedules, contracts, and budgets.
* Develops and reviews project managers cost estimates and budgets.
* Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring engineers and project managers.
* Assist with performance reviews and resolve internal issues.
* Develops, implements, and monitors QA/QC plans.
* Evaluate project managers time management skills and recommend improvements to maintain work/life balance.
* The ability to take control of a situation and to lead by empowering others into an effective team.
* Presents a positive, productive, can-do attitude.
* Inspiring and energizing others to carry out tasks and achieve goals by displaying a clear sense of direction and values.
* The ability to analyze problematic situations, seeking relevant data? Diagnosing information in order to solve problems? Generalizing alternative solutions to find the best solution.
* Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives; attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, and attending in-house systems/management training.
* Actively assist with client management and develop positive working relationships with clients and review agencies.
* Actively assists in marketing initiatives and network and attend professional organization functions and conferences.
Qualifications:
* Advanced degree or a minimum of 15 years in engineering or related field, with a high level of project management experience or a high level certification in related field.
* Experience with IDOT PTB Bulletin, Tollway, and County project pursuits
* Experience with roadway and infrastructure design using IDOT, Tollway, and County design criteria
* Existing client network preferred, including experience working with IDOT and county staff
* Microstation/Geopak and AutoCAD capabilities
* Must be able to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills.
* Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
* Excellent presentation and marketing skills.
* Must have valid Illinois Drivers License.
