Under the supervision of the Nurse, the incumbent provides assistance to the professional nursing staff in order to meet the personal needs and comfort of the resident. Duties will include bathing, oral care, incontinence care, ambulation, activities, and some minor treatments as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: General knowledge of the health care needs of geriatric residents. General knowledge of Infection Control practices and procedures including protective equipment and Universal Precautions. General knowledge of assisted feeding, nourishments, and accurate record keeping. General knowledge of ADLs and psychological needs of the geriatric resident. Knowledge of taking vital signs and weights and recording of the same. Ability to cooperate with personnel from all departments; remain levelheaded during emergencies and treat resident information as confidential material. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Observes residents and reports any unusual condition, accident or incident to nurse. Assists in any accident and incident investigations. Participates in informal/formal resident care meetings. Performs duties as instructed by written assignment which includes resident care to be provided i.e. activities of daily living, grooming and hygiene, transferring ambulation, ROM and proper body alignment, transporting to activities and scheduled appointments. Assists with serving meals, feeding residents and meal documentation. Maintains orderly resident rooms and assures that the call cord is within easy reach of the resident at all times. Makes rounds on assigned residents at the beginning of each shift and at least every hour thereafter. Care for clean and soiled linen. Assists in the orientation of training of new C.N.A.s on the floor as necessary. Attends all required In-service training. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English in both written and verbal form.
Education: Nurses Aide Training Program approved by the Department
of Health and Senior Services with a passing score on the
NJ Nurses Aide Certification Exam.
Experience: Previous nurses aide experience desirable, but not
essential.
Physical Requirements: The employee must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds. Extensive walking, standing, lifting, bending, and some sitting required. Employee must demonstrate full range of motion to all extremities unless otherwise expressed in the hiring agreement.
