SHIFT: Thursday-Monday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Job Description:
Under the direction of the nutrition services manager, you will be responsible for food production and service for clinical trial participants. Your major duties include preparation of meals of various levels of complexity; cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of equipment and work areas; procurement, transporting, distribution, and proper storage of food and non-food supplies for the research kitchen; utilizing safe food handling and sanitation practices at all times. In this role, you will also report to the executive chef at UCLA Health System and work at assigned stations to support food preparation for patient care, retail and catering services for medical center operations as needed at both Ronald Reagan Medical Center and Santa Monica Hospital. You will follow established guidelines for food services and observance of all policies outlined by joint commission, University of California and UCLA Medical Center. Interact with clients and establish positive relationships with staff members at all departments
Required Experience: Skill in reading and comprehending standard English text such as departmental policy and procedures, memos, HACCP and JCAHO policies etc. Skill in speaking and communicating well in English in order to interact with accuracy and ease with both internal and external customers. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, subordinates and/or superiors. Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. Skill in performing a variety of duties often changing priorities to appropriately handle diverse situations. Knowledge of University, Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures as outlined by Human Resources. Knowledge of and adherence to all policies pertaining to sanitation and safety issues as outlined by JCAHO and HACCP standards. Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach, lift, push and pull for prolonged periods of time in hot or cold areas. Ability to lift, push or pull 50+lbs. Ability to use strong cleaning solutions.
