The CDO will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for designing and executing a diversified development strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. This includes leading a team, managing all aspects of development, and working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
The successful CDO will be a strategic thinker, with the ability to drive results and effectively communicate the organization's vision. They must be a collaborative leader, with a strong service mentality, and a reputation for integrity and ethics. Experience in technology-related issues, research/think tanks, and advocacy is a plus, but not required.
The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for the organization's mission, at least 15 years' of professional experience in development, and a proven track record in major gifts and philanthropy. They should be adept at building strong relationships, have excellent people and management skills, and be experienced in growing a development program and team. The role demands a high level of energy, entrepreneurial drive, and a mission-oriented approach. The CDO will also be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to actively participate in the organization's anti-racist and anti-discrimination initiatives.
