The successful candidate will be a bold, charismatic, and collaborative visionary, dedicated to the interconnection between humans and the environment. Key responsibilities include articulating a progressive global vision, developing and executing strategic plans, and driving efforts to secure essential resources. The role demands a leader with a strong reputation for thought leadership, collaboration, and movement building, who can ensure the organization's long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate will be a champion for the mission, an innovative global leader, a compelling relationship builder, and an influential fundraising leader. They should have a Juris Doctor degree or international equivalent, at least 10 years of legal practice, and a proven track record in international and environmental law or policy.
The CEO will also be responsible for organizational management, governance, and board engagement, and will work to maintain and enhance the organization's reputation through program excellence and strategic communications. A strong commitment to the values and mission of the organization, as well as a background in leading with equity and a focus on diversity and inclusion, is essential. The role requires a leader with at least 10 years of management experience, including 7 years in senior or executive leadership, and a history of leading successful nonprofit or related entities. The candidate should be an excellent communicator, with the ability to inspire and lead high-performance teams, and have a proven track record in fundraising and building strategic alliances.
