Chief Information Officer

George Fox University's Institutional Technology (IT) department is seeking a highly-motivated team player to serve as our Chief Information Officer (CIO).
About the Job: The CIO will drive the technology strategy, oversee data security and the operations of the university. Through strong people, technical and project management skills they will ensure the department operates security, effectively, and efficiently. Their work will shape technology services that can be leveraged to achieve business objectives and strategy supporting the university's mission, vision, and values.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Operations - Leading an internal group of customer service focused technical employees that provides administration of a complex, multi-platform computing, communications, networking, and technology system used by students, faculty, and staff. Security - Serving as the Information Security Program Coordinator and managing all aspects of the Information Security Program for the university including creating and enforcing policies and procedures.
Establishing a strategic road map based on prioritized areas of risk to evolve the University's information security posture from reactive to proactive. Implementing target milestones and metrics to measure performance. Communicating progress, roadblocks and challenges. Managing data and technology governance efforts of the university. Coordinating technology related elements of the university business continuity and disaster recovery efforts. Serving as a key member of the Risk Management Committee. Strategy - Providing technical vision, planning, and implementation of improvements that support business growth and ensures execution is in accordance with established and accepted best practices for the IT industry.
Analyzing current technology infrastructure and aligning it with the University's strategic growth plans. Partnering with university constituents to develop and lead strategic planning processes related to institutional technology across the organization. Project Planning - Leading long- and short-term planning within the IT department including strategic, tactical, and operational planning as well as department budget management.
Working with the Institutional Technology leadership team to develop the overall data, service, and software architecture of George Fox University's core applications ensuring that what Institutional Technology delivers is flexible, innovative, and meets the requirements of our community of users. Faculty & Student Experience - Establishing cohesive relationships between the infrastructure, application, and service aspects of the university, especially focused on furthering George Fox University's academic technology profile and support of faculty and students in teaching and learning activities. Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service. By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role. Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people. Other duties as assigned. We're looking for candidates who have: A combination of education and experience that has prepared themselves to lead complex and multi-disciplinary technology teams. Experience working independently on projects, identifying and delegating tasks and determining progress toward critical project milestones. A collaborative leadership style with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies across the campus to sustain first-rate IT services. Knowledge of network administration, computer support, Helpdesk administration, database administration, administrative software, web design, PCI compliance, information security management and server management are additional desired areas of experience. Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes: Demonstrated experience with managing an ERP system like Oracle/PeopleSoft and ability to drive automation within a complex organization is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience integrating the use of technology in pedagogical design, curriculum development and online instruction are preferred.
