The incumbent must be highly analytical and effectively able to troubleshoot and prioritize needs, requirements and other issues. Aside from technical skills, the CISO needs excellent communication, teamwork, leadership and conflict management skills. Because of the constant developing nature of information systems and cyber-attacks, the Officer must be committed to continuous learning and system development.
The CISO will focus on the things that will move the program forward on the broader administrative, communication, and coordination activities. Building relationships on a daily basis is imperative. The CISO will lead educational programs aimed at student, faculty and staff awareness. By providing information and data, communicating risks, seeking to educate administrators and users, and building relationships, the CISO seeks to influence campus views of the importance of security.
The Chief Information Security Officer plays an integral part in the development, implementation, and compliance of technical security across the enterprise. The Officer is responsible for managing risks related to information security, physical security, business continuity planning, crisis management, privacy, and compliance. In addition, the Officer ensures all staff members are trained on enterprise and governmental security requirements through the Unit Security Liaisons and through annual awareness programs.
The Chief Information Security Officer will direct the Office of Identity and Access Management (OIAM) "Identity and Access Management" is the industry term given to policies, guidelines, processes, and operations that securely enable appropriate system access to authorized users. Any person requiring access to any system or systems have to be added to the Identity and Access Management systems and be designated as authorized users. Once they have been granted access, the users have to log in and authenticate before being allowed in. Therefore, without a well governed and functioning identity and access management process, information technology resources and data are in jeopardy of being uncompliant to state and federal regulations, unavailable, and insecure. Additional Information The Information Security Office or ISO protects the Universitys technology from cyber threats. Thanks to this team, the University has a safe computing environment.
The Office of Technology Solutions provides information technology products and services for the administrative and business functions of Illinois State University. Through our Technology Support Center and our highly trained staff, Technology Solutions looks to improve the campus experience for all students, faculty, staff, and the rest of the campus community. Required Qualifications 1. Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership in enterprise information technology
2. Minimum of 8 years of work experience in the area of Information Security dealing with auditing and compliance, creating and managing policies, vulnerability and threat assessment, as well as designing relevant systems across the unit.
3. Minimum of 13 years of experience working in higher education information technology
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers, and subject matter experts
5. Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into service level requirements
6. Ability to resolve business and functional problems and to communicate effectively with various constituents
7. Knowledge and familiarity with Cloud security practices, network operating systems, endpoint devices
8. Advanced knowledge of Payment Card Industry standards
9. Advanced familiarity with Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements Work Hours Office setting. The core work hours of this position are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Position occasionally requires work beyond regular office hours. Functional Expectations Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
