Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a research and development (R&D) laboratory, ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. This includes managing laboratory staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that all laboratory procedures and protocols are followed.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing laboratory waste generated from R&D activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
provide technical support to our R&D team, assisting with chemical inventory management, and implementing best practices for chemical safety and handling.
Manage R&D laboratory waste, including scheduling pickups, tracking waste disposal, and maintaining records in accordance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
Provide technical support to the R&D team, including assisting with chemical inventory management, conducting chemical compatibility assessments, and providing training on chemical safety and handling.
Implement and maintain best practices for chemical safety and handling, including the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training programs.
Conduct regular inspections of laboratory facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, industry trends, and best practices in chemical safety and waste management.
Participate in cross-functional teams to support the development of new products and processes, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Respond to chemical-related incidents, including spills, accidents, and emergencies, and lead investigations to identify root causes and prevent future incidents.
Collaborate with external partners, including waste disposal vendors, regulatory agencies, and emergency responders, to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all laboratory waste, chemical inventory, and safety-related activities, and generate reports as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in laboratory waste management, chemical safety, and handling. Knowledge of relevant regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Experience with chemical inventory management software and databases.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
Certification in hazardous materials management, chemical hygiene, or a related field is a plus.
