ABOUT THE POSITION Applications will be reviewed in the order of when it was received MUST BE CURRENTLY REGISTERED WITH THE BOARD OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES TO BE CONSIDERED.

Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

This job opening will serve to fill multiple Clinical Therapist II for the Therapeutic Residential Assessment and Consultation Team (TRAC) within Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health. The Clinical Therapist II - TRAC team member will serve as behavioral health representative on Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTMs) to make recommendations for services/resources that include mental health services for both youth and family and/or community resources. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the behavioral health representative as part of the Interagency Placement Committee (IPC) screenings which determine the eligibility of youth for placements or programs that have the capacity to address the youth's needs. IPC occurs with both DPSS and Probation and requires completion of a screening form. This position does not carry a caseload nor does it require documentation in a clinical chart. Screenings and CFTMs are currently held virtually.For this recruitment, positions are eligible for a 10% DTR differential that is applied to hours worked. At any time, this differential can be removed.

Under supervision, performs a range of therapeutic assignments related to the field of mental or behavioral health services and psychiatric social work, as applicable by professional licensing laws, to meet the needs of consumers or families with mental or emotional disorders; and performs other related duties as required.

The Clinical Therapist II is the journey and licensed level of the Clinical Therapist series. Positions in this class include the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). The Clinical Therapist II class has responsibility for performing, within the scope of licensure, exhibiting a variety of mental health and related disorders in a clinic or institutional setting. Assignments range from average difficulty to very complex and may include serving in a lead capacity over other mental health treatment staff.

The Clinical Therapist II is distinguished from the Senior Clinical Therapist in that the latter is the lead level classification, responsible for the most complex assignments or providing extensive clinical supervision over unlicensed clinicians.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Interview consumers, relatives, and other involved persons to gather personal and social data relevant to assessing mental or emotional disorders.
• Develop service plans with consumers; evaluate psychological, economic, vocational, educational, physical, health, socialization, and housing needs.
• Assist consumers and other concerned individuals in understanding the nature of major psychological illnesses and their psychosocial effects.
• Establish and maintain effective contact with local area mental health resources, including community members, parents, schools, residential facilities, and other agencies/organizations.
• Perform specialized tasks including involuntary hospitalization procedures (5150) and Tarasoff assessments.
• Participate in mental health conferences and local area committees.
• Prepare reports and write correspondence.
• Provide guidance to volunteers and staff.
• Licensed level, within the scope of licensure, may provide clinical supervision to unlicensed clinicians.
• Coordinate clinical decisions in response to operational demands.
• Conduct clinical discussions regarding complex or difficult cases.
• Respond to emergencies, within licensure, which may occur on the unit.
• Coordinate the flow of information and clinical data to ensure continuity in treatment or shift.
• Serve as liaison with other sections, units, services, and agencies.

Salary: $32.37 - $46.08 Hourly

Education: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related behavioral science field.

AND

Certificate: Clinical Therapist I must have possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Clinical Therapist II must have possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
Tier I (Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60): Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08/24/2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions. The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent. Tier II (Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60): Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08/23/2012 through 12/31/2012; 2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside. The employee contribution is seven (7%) percent. Tier III (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62): Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013. Effective July 1, 2023 employee contributions are 7.25% and will increase to 7.75% effective July 1, 2024.
A new member is defined as any of the following:
A new hire who enters CalPERS membership for the first time on or after January 1, 2013, and who has no prior membership in any California Public Retirement System. A new hire who enters CalPERS membership for the first time on or after January 1, 2013, and who was a member with another California Public Retirement System prior to that date, but who is not subject to reciprocity upon joining CalPERS.
