About the job Coffee Technician | Warehouse Operations Lead

Coffee Technician | Warehouse Operations Lead About us

Pro Coffee Gear is a rapidly growing coffee equipment e-commerce company based on our 20-acre ranch in Austin, Texas. We aim to make it easy for our clients to equip their business or hobby with high-quality coffee equipment while spending less. On the client side, we do this by pairing delightful online purchase experiences with expert 1-1 consultations. On the operations side, we've built deep experience across the equipment spectrum, and a proprietary process for refurbishing espresso machines. We don't simply move boxes. We aspire to be the foremost technical experts in coffee equipment and to leverage that expertise to help our clients succeed for the long-term. We support this mission with continual training, outstanding after-sales support, and one of the largest equipment and parts selections in the country. We're looking forward to having you grow with us!

Our Culture

Our warehouse team has a relaxed but professional culture. We work hard but enjoy and have fun at work. We're also a curious bunch who are fascinated by different coffee-making equipment, their nuances across brands, and how they make coffee. We also genuinely enjoy coffee and the process of helping our clients make it. On the operational side, we take pride in delivering high-quality products and identifying any potential issue a client might face before it happens. We are honest and ruthless about finding the root causes of problems when they occur and revise our system design to minimize the chance that they will happen again. If something doesn't go according to plan, we unpack what happened and learn from it - no matter how small the issue may be. We embrace problems as learning opportunities we can use to grow. We strive to disassociate the person from the problem, which helps us be high performers without the stress typically associated with "making a mistake". Because we observe and debug small problems that come up before they become big problems, we rarely encounter after-sales issues. We embrace the small stresses associated with proactively avoiding major issues. This helps us avoid time-consuming and emotionally laborious "firefighting" exercises. It also allows us to be generous with our time when things don't go as planned.

About the Role

We're looking for a Coffee Technician/Warehouse Operations role for our team. As we are still an early-stage company, this will be a dynamic role that will cover several aspects of warehouse operations. In this role, you will see a cross-section of warehouse operations. This will include refurbishing espresso machines using our Pro Renewal Process, organizing and fulfilling shipments, taking product photos, ordering parts, and handling local equipment installations. These diverse experiences will provide you with the foundation to grow within the company and specialize where your work preferences overlap with future company needs

Required Skills

Our preferred candidate will have strong technical and client service acumen or, at the very least, a high potential to develop in those areas. We hire for potential, not just experience.

Attitude and Preferences A successful candidate will possess the following qualities: Curiosity about learning new things and enjoying deeply understanding how something works. You see work as something you want to enjoy and a key part of a fulfilling life - not just a way to 'pay the bills'. You appreciate the art of making coffee and/or the engineering of mechanical systems. You have a strong attention to detail and are obsessive about getting things right. You harbor a mild dissatisfaction with the status quo and feel motivated and excited about what something (product, system, etc) "could be". You are receptive to in-the-moment feedback and can see it as a good opportunity to learn and grow vs. avoid because it feels uncomfortable in the moment; Can know that having a "bad outcome" doesn't mean that they are being threatened or are otherwise a "bad person". Technical Profile A candidate with strong technical acumen will: Have previous coffee tech or auto tech experience or training Be able to accurately observe and debug cause and effect relationships in mechanical systems Be able to concisely articulate why they think something is broken and how to fix it. You are organized spatially (tools and physical processes) and mentally (priorities and tasks to complete). Client Service Profile You have previous customer service experience or training. You can empathize well - You can visualize how it would look and feel to stand in someone else's shoes and use that information to better serve them. You say what you will do and you do what you say - You take steps to solve a client's problem, and where you make commitments, you follow through on them exceeding or meeting the expectations you set. Can professionally and positively interact with customers, even when they're unfair or otherwise uncomfortable to work with. Benefits:Opportunities for career growth and advancement within a rapidly expanding company. Goal-oriented work culture, providing autonomy and opportunities for personal and professional development. Take part in an international team!
At Pro Coffee Gear, we believe in the strength of diversity and equal opportunities for all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
