Job Title: Community Outreach Representative
Reports to: STEM Education & Workforce Development Program Director
Location / Hours: San Juan, Puerto Rico / Full-Time
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract (18 months contract)
Purpose
The Community Outreach Representative for the TecLab will be responsible for developing and implementing robust technology education curricula, with focus on Technology, Biotechnology and Emergent Technologies. This role will facilitate and coach teachers across Puerto Rico's educational regions, mentor and support the assigned cadre of teachers, and contribute to expanding high school students' exposure to career pathways to technology through the 21st Century Techforce initiative.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Support the implementation of the program's community engagement and outreach plan.
Organize, attend, and present to community organizations, participating schools, and neighborhood group meetings the TecLab school programs.
Be the primary point of contact and organizer of outreach and educational activities of the program.
Develop TecLab program education and information materials, presentations and trainings.
Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of community members; and other stakeholders working with the project.
Respond to public and community inquiries and brief the organization's staff on matters of public interest and concern regarding this project.
Define requirements, participate in the design and implementation of a community engagement plan of interested parties and issues.
Provide and facilitate training to residents and community leaders.
Regularly participate or coordinate community outreach activities around the Island during or outside normal business hours.
Act as the primary point of contact and organizer of outreach and engagement activities of this project.

Qualifications & Technical Job Requirements
Ability to successfully engage with a wide range and diverse set of stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment; comfortable and effective in influencing at all organizational levels; ability to tactfully give/receive constructive feedback.
Proficient oral and written communications skills in English and Spanish including excellent writing, proofreading, and editing abilities and command of grammar/punctuation, style, and format; ability to communicate, translate, simplify, and articulate complex ideas into easily understood and relatable concepts.
Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple simultaneous projects under strict timelines and within confidential circumstances.
A strong work ethic, ability to maintain and model high personal, ethical, and professional standards, as well as an outgoing and positive personality.
Must be able to work outside normal business hours; must be able to travel regularly throughout the island, as needed.
Must hold a valid Puerto Rico driver's license. Travel within Puerto Rico is expected.
Experience & Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in any of the following educational fields: science, education, school counseling, public relations, psychology, sociology, community engagement, or related.
Minimum of 2 years designing, developing, and implementing engagement or outreach programs in the areas of community engagement, education, school counseling, social work, or another related field.
Familiarity with Computer Science education, VR/AR, IoT, Data Science, Cybersecurity or Biotechnology principles and their application is a plus.
