JOB SUMMARY: The Compliance & Employee Relations Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the organization adheres to all relevant labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
This position is responsible for fostering a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns, mediating conflicts, and promoting fair and consistent treatment across the organization.
The specialist will collaborate closely with management and employees to uphold compliance standards and enhance overall employee satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Compliance Management Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the company complies with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and others. Works together with the legal team to communicate the requirements associated with all applicable HR-related legal/regulatory and compliance programs.
Policy Development: Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practices.
Audit and Reporting: Conduct regular audits of HR practices and maintain accurate records.
Prepare and submit compliance reports as required. Responsible for all annual compliance reporting including but not limited to EEO-1, Veterans 412, ACA Reporting, Affirmative Action Plan, among others.
Training & Education: Design and deliver training programs for management and employees on compliance topics, including anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, and workplace safety.
Employee Relations Investigations: Lead all investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, and other workplace issues, ensuring thorough and unbiased outcomes.
Conflict Resolution: Act as a mediator in employee disputes, facilitating fair and effective resolutions.
Employee Support: Provide guidance and support to employees regarding workplace issues, ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.
Risk Management Investigations: Manage all investigation processes with third party regulatory agencies such as the Department of Labor, OFCCP, EEOC, among others Risk Assessment: Identify potential areas of compliance and employee relations risk, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Documentation: Maintain detailed and confidential records of all compliance and employee relations activities.
Collaborate with other functional areas like operations unit and other players in the delivery of compliance programs and training to employees.
Discreetly handle sensitive employee reports or information.
Perform any other functions as requested.
REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
Master's degree or HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HR, with a focus on compliance and employee relations.
Proven track record of managing compliance programs and resolving complex employee issues.
Previous experience in construction industry is preferred.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of labor laws and HR best practices.
Familiarity with HRIS systems and compliance management tools.
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
